Police radio shows were the early versions of what today is known as police procedural drama - they were different from detective shows, because they introduced audience to the details of how police work actually looks like. Instead of cartoonish detectives we had here tough police officers trying to solve the crimes that anyone could be witness in the streets of the big cities.
