Jet Morgan returns from the journey to Mars, his crew has lost several members, a few of the ships did not make it back, he prepares for the inquisition into his decisions during the trip. Once they reach the Moon, the surviving crew members only hope to get a long rest, but it seems they will not be given a chance to recuperate - they are given orders to remain on the Moon to keep their return secret, and soon they are sent on another mission, this time much closer than Mars. During their exploration of Mars, Morgan discovered alien lifeforms, and it appears that their ships have just reached Earth, at least that is what their superiors are afraid of. Morgan, Mitchell, Doc Matthews and Lemmy are sent to the Lake District, where one of the Mars ships has landed - they hope to examine it or even take over in hope to stop or delay the invasion, but on arrival they discover the ship looks nothing like the ones they saw on Mars. What is more, it appears that the passengers of the ship might have left the area.

Classic British sci-fi radio show, third from the Journey into Space trilogy by Charles Chilton. While the two first parts were dealing with the journey towards and exploration of Mars, the third part returns to Earth, where an alien invasion might have just started. During the original broadcast, Journey into Space gathered more audience than TV shows that were aired at the same time. To this day, it is considered one of the best British radio shows and enjoys not only re-runs, but also additional adaptations.
