Early days of radio entertainment took place when theater variety shows were still very popular around the world - they presented wide range of acts, from drama to comedy and, in some cases, anyone who had some sort of talent. The formula worked well in radio - it kept the audience entertained while providing different kind of material every week. Also shorter segments were giving the cast and crew chance to prepare for another segment while the shows were broadcasted live.
One of the few anthology radio shows directed and hosted by Orson Welles. Show presented wide range of material, from drama to comedy, poetry and commentary on current events.
