Green Eye Theater was Polish anthology series that was, on and off, broadcasted by Polish Radio from 1967 until 2003, with "golden era" in 1980s when it was placed in best spot (Saturday evening after one of the most popular music shows of that time). Formally the show was ended in 1987, but its popularity brought Polish Radio 3 to bring the series back, especially in summer time, in 1988, 1989, 1992, and with final new episodes produced in 2003.
The wide range of themes, styles and genres was covered, with each episode containing a single story - from crime, mystery, science fiction to horror and dramas, but most emphasis was put on crime stories with rather light overtones. In many ways the Green Eye Theatre was similar in style to Inner Sanctum Mystery and The Mysterious Traveler, although due to long run and using material from different sources Green Eye Theatre was presenting wider range of themes.
Some of the episodes were based on classic writers (like Arthur Conan Doyle, Raymond Chandler, Georges Simenon, Frederick Forsyth, Ray Bradbury, Agatha Christie, Isaac Asimov, Talmage Powell), some on Polish authors (Waldemar Łysiak, Ewa Szumańska, Krystyna Kofta), but also some of the stories were written especially for Green Eye Theatre.
One of the best anthology radio shows.
